One of our largest projects to date was undertaken with Leeds Mencap in early 2013. We worked closely with their communications and admin teams to scope out a large new website for their organisation. We applied our proven web design process to create a site map that prioritised key information and wireframed site navigation that allowed users to easily find content.
We delivered a creative design that leverages the Mencap visual identity to engage visitors and adapts to any device, desktop, tablet or smartphone. It is vital for an organisation such as Leeds Mencap that provides services to busy families to reach its audience wherever they are and however they access the website.
The website is built on the ExpressionEngine content management system allowing staff across Leeds Mencap to add events, publish latest news and keep service listings up-to-date with venues, schedule and application procedures.
We also implemented a full suite of accessibility options to make the website usable by everyone including a high contrast mode, font-size adjustment and a ‘read aloud’ option. We also used FontDeck to deliver Mencap’s own FS Mencap typeface that was purpose-designed, for the requirements, and in consultation with people with a learning disability.
The website looks great and we’ve had loads of good comments on it. Thank you so much!Ruth Fawcett, Head of Fundraising & PR
